Color
I never see the earth but just the color that it's wrought
Or darkness at its seed and all the time that it has fought
The death and light it mastered through the seasons rain and dry
The memory it's hidden from the moment running by
To give to me this flower suff'ring underneath the dew
Wet with life surrounding, heavy with the morning new
The lightest things are always those that bear the heavy ones
A blade of grass for horses and a woman's heart for sons
This sagging earth is born by all the life that's blossomed here
What light became because the darkness chose to draw it near
But we never hear the darkness, and we never see the light
Just shadows we call color in the sunshine's holy night
As water falls from flower tops and fades into the earth
All I know is that your every moment is a birth
