Time is what I have of you, and breath is what it gives
The dark before beside and after, but here the sunshine lives
As I walk with you through leaves I see the light begin to fade
But with your hand in my hand now I feel the morning made
Believing once there was a way to keep the light from ebbing
I lost part of our lovely walk in woeful overstepping
Instead of just the sky and you I broke into a run
But you don't need to find the light when you're next to the sun
There are times of darkness every day and many times of rain
And soon or late we must of course go back to them again
But when the trees start fluttering, and when the sunshine breaks
How not to love a light that dies if this is what it makes?
I'll walk with you as long as there are trees that fall for you
I know the mornings and the leaves, and I know that's what they'll do.
